These days the synth has become ubiquitous for musical genres like house, dubstep and even variations of Hip Hop. Ever since record companies started clamping down on the use of samples by Hip Hop producers there was a shift towards producers creating their sounds from scratch, so the synth was the default instrument. This gave rise to a much more ‘electronic’ sound like Trap music and Dirty South which hardly features any sampled music at all.
